10 Parameters to Be Checked Before Placing an Order for Warehousing and Logistics/Manufacturing/Supermarket Procurement (including Inquiry List).

In the turnover scenarios of warehousing and logistics, industrial manufacturing, and large supermarkets, the common problem with metal pallets is not "not being able to buy", but "buying the wrong ones" : they cannot be placed on the shelves, forklifts cannot be inserted, they deform due to insufficient load capacity, and the surface treatment is not durable, leading to rust and rework... These hidden costs are often more expensive than the unit price of the pallets.

The following 10 points are recommended for you to confirm item by item before placing an order.

Metal Pallets

1- Stacking method: Is it "corner to corner positioning" or "column/nested structure"

When purchasing, first clarify which stacking logic you want:

  • Corner positioning (with stacking cups/positioning cones) : Universal, cost-friendly, suitable for warehouse and distribution turnover
  • Column-type/frame-type stacking: It is more stable in height and suitable for scenarios where the goods are taller or where stability is more strictly required

2- Stacking height and number of stacking layers: Determine structural reinforcement and risk boundaries

Procurement requires the provision of two pieces of data:

  • Plan to stack several layers
  • The maximum stacking height allowed in the warehouse (including the pallet body + goods)

The higher the number of stacking layers, the more not only the dynamic load of a single pallet should be considered, but also the stacking stability, deformation control and the risk of loosening during long-term use should be evaluated simultaneously.

3- The load should be reported simultaneously as "dynamic load + static load of stacking"

For your range of 800-1600kg, when it is used in stackable scenarios, it is recommended that the purchasing department fill in as follows:

  • Single pallet dynamic load (forklift handling) : __ kg
  • Static load on a single pallet (single-layer load-bearing) : __ kg
  • Number of stacking layers: __ layers
  • Actual force on the bottom layer after stacking (for structural verification) : __ kg (calculated with the assistance of the supplier)

4- Stacking positioning structure details: Determine whether the stack is stable or not

Procurement focus confirmation:

  • Are there stacking cups/positioning holes/positioning cones (anti-slip)?
  • Has the positioning structure been thickened or has a guard ring been made (with less wear due to long-term stacking)?
  • Does the positioning tolerance take into account on-site errors (to avoid "not matching the upper position")?

Stacking stability = positioning structure + tolerance + welding consistency

5- Bottom structure compatible with forklifts: Avoid "stacking stably but not forking smoothly"

The most feared thing for stackable pallets is that the stacking structure is made too complicated, resulting in forklifts inserting and interfering.

Procurement must confirm:

  • Two-way/four-way forking
  • The height of the fork hole is compatible with the thickness of the fork teeth

Should protective strips be added to the wear-prone areas (to reduce paint/zinc peeling and maintenance)

6- How to choose surface treatment: Make decisions based on "environment + turnover frequency"

  • Outdoor/damp/rain/corrosion risk: Hot-dip galvanizing is preferred (more environmentally resistant)
  • Indoor + Visual management/color zoning: Powder coating (more conducive to on-site management)
  • High-frequency fork wear: It is recommended to carry out structural strengthening in the contact area of the fork teeth (more effective than simply thickening the coating)

7- Space efficiency after stacking: The cost of empty return trips should be calculated clearly

The ROI of stackable pallets often comes from two things:

  • Reduce floor space (the empty pallets occupy less space after stacking)
  • Reduce the volume of return transportation (improve the efficiency of stacked transportation)

"If you could tell me the size of the carriage and the quantity of each recycling/return trip, we can help you calculate the volume and frequency saved during the empty return trip according to the stacking plan."

8- Consistency and maintainability: B-end users are more concerned about "batch consistency and long-term usability"

Procurement will care:

  • Batch size consistency (stack)
  • Vulnerable position can maintain (bead/Angle/anchor point)
  • Whether to support asset number (qr code/name plate)

9- How should acceptance be written to make delivery smoother

  • Random inspection of key dimensions of the dimensions and fork holes
  • Stacking positioning test: Horizontal displacement/shake inspection after stacking
  • Load test: Described under uniform distribution/eccentric load conditions
  • Surface treatment appearance and key area inspection (fork tooth wear area)

10- Provide all the inquiry information at once, and the quotation speed will be improved by one level

Supplementary Parameters for Inquiry of stackable Metal Pallets (Special):

  • Stacking method: Positioning cup / Positioning hole / Column type (select one)
  • Stacking layers: __ layers; Maximum stacking height: __ mm
  • Whether with edge protection / anti-slip / binding points: Yes / No
  • Inlet for forklift: Two-way / Four-way; Fork hole direction: Long side / Short side
  • Environment: Indoor / Outdoor / Humid; Surface treatment: Hot-dip galvanizing / Painting
  • Single pallet working load: __ kg (it is recommended to confirm within the range of 800–1600 kg)

If you are optimizing turnover with stackable metal pallets, please send me the number of stacking layers + maximum stacking height + forklift model/fork tooth size + dynamic load target for a single pallet (800-1600kg), and we can provide you with a version:

  • Stacking structure suggestions (Positioning cup/Column/Reinforcement scheme)
  • Comparison of two sets of configurations: Hot-dip galvanizing and spraying
  • Size and fork compatibility checklist

It is used for your internal price comparison, project initiation and quick order placement.
